The City of North Port is committed to environmental stewardship and public safety. We are pleased to announce an upcoming Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection event, providing residents with a convenient opportunity to responsibly dispose of hazardous materials.

- Location: Public Works Facility, 1850 W. Price Blvd., North Port, FL
This event is a complimentary service for North Port residents, aiming to facilitate the safe disposal of materials that should not enter the regular waste stream.
Accepted Items
Residents are encouraged to bring the following household hazardous waste items:
- Pool Chemicals: Substances used for pool maintenance, such as chlorine and algaecides.
- Pesticides: Products intended for pest control, including insecticides and herbicides.
- Paint: Both latex and oil-based paints, as well as related products like varnishes and stains.
- Chemical Cleaning Products: Household cleaners containing hazardous chemicals.
- Fertilizers: Nutrient-rich products used for plant growth.
- Automotive Products: Items such as motor oil, antifreeze, and brake fluids.
- Batteries: Including automotive, marine, and household batteries.
- Household Fire Extinguishers: Portable devices designed to extinguish small fires.
- Propane Cylinders (BBQ Size): Standard propane tanks used for barbecue grills.
- Fluorescent Bulbs: Including compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) and fluorescent tubes.
- Solvents, Adhesives, and Glues: Chemical substances used for dissolving or bonding materials.
- Tires: Passenger vehicle tires.
- Unwanted Medication and Sharps: Medications and sharp objects (e.g., needles) should be placed in rigid, puncture-resistant, leak-proof containers.

Items Not Accepted
Please note that the following items will not be accepted at the event:
- Garbage: Regular household waste.
- Appliances: Large household appliances such as refrigerators and washing machines.
- Yard Waste: Organic materials like leaves, grass clippings, and branches.
- Ammunition: Firearm cartridges and related materials.
- Fireworks/Flares: Pyrotechnic devices.
- Hurricane Debris: Materials resulting from storm damage.
Alternative Disposal Options
- Unwanted Medications: Residents can dispose of unwanted medications at the North Port Police Department, located at 4980 City Hall Blvd.
- Sharps Disposal: Sharp objects can be taken to any North Port Fire Rescue Station. Please ensure they are placed in secure containers.
