North Port, FL – The North Port Parks & Recreation Department is inviting residents to kick off the season with its annual “Splash into Summer” event on Saturday, May 10, 2025. Held at the North Port Aquatic Center, this family-friendly gathering will feature free admission for North Port residents from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., providing a perfect opportunity to enjoy the facility’s water attractions while promoting water safety.
The event will also include the MayDay Drowning Prevention Expo, where attendees can learn essential water safety tips from local vendors and organizations. With Florida consistently ranking among the states with the highest rates of unintentional drownings, this initiative aims to equip families with life-saving knowledge. Highlights of the expo include interactive demonstrations and a special appearance by “Josh the Otter,” a mascot dedicated to teaching children about water safety14.
“This marks our sixth year hosting this event, and we remain committed to educating our community about water safety,” said Devon Poulos, Aquatics Manager for North Port Parks & Recreation. “Our goal is to equip families and children with the knowledge and skills to remain safe in, on, and around the water”1.
The aquatic center, located at 6205 W. Price Blvd., features attractions such as a lazy river, slides, and a competition pool. Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis, and proof of residency (such as a state-issued ID or utility bill) is required for free entry. Children under 11 must be accompanied by an adult14.
Non-residents are welcome to join at standard daily rates. For more information about the event, visit the city’s official website.
